The Mustard Ultimatum

We were trying to find out just how far we could push it at the drive-in movie; we brought our own snacks. How much spicy mustard we could get through in one evening?

The pretzel bag was just opened when a series of unforeseen catastrophes thwarted the efforts of the characters in the movie and the snackers in the car. Mustard was all over the front seat of the car and not one pretzel had been dipped as a sniper zeroed in on the main characters. Studied yet casual camo pants and a very classy shirt from a hoity toity SoHo shop were covered in bright yellow mustard as Matthew Bourne ran helter skelter across the screen. Napkins were rushed from the snack bar just as the hero seemingly escaped catastrophe.

Calm ensued but a surprise attack came from the assassin on the screen and the same mustard found it's way onto the back seats of the car and onto my sneakers and pajamas. Frantic clean up efforts echoed the giant cinematic figures looming over our car hood. As they escaped again, we settled down to watch the rest of The Bourne Ultimatum with the distinct and pungent aroma of vinegar in the air.

  1. Oh boy, an evening with the lingering smell of mustard - not a good image! Hope the movie was good enough to hold your attention and divert it away from the aroma.
